Regional Support Worker Conference 'At the NDIS Frontline'

The Regional Support Worker Conferences have been designed specifically for frontline staff. They are an opportunity for disability support workers to access information and practical advice tailored toward their roles in the NDIS transformation.

Given the formation of a customer-driven and more personalised disability system, support workers are being propelled into a position of increased importance, As the frontline ambassadors for their organisation, they will be key to attracting and retaining clients.

The National Disability Services 'At the NDIS Frontline' conference outlines the nuts and bolts of the NDIS and what workers might expect with both changing client-worker dynamics and altered employment settings.

Over the course of the 2 days delegates will hear from NDIS participants and providers in the trial sites. The conference will illuminate the outcomes and goals reached by NDIS participants. Delegates will engage a number of 'Q&A' panels where they can ask questions about state and national reforms and what is happening within the NDIS trial sites.

Our presenters will also focus on developing support workers skills in NDIS plan management and challenging ways of working and managing risk and supporting decisions, quality practice, complaints handling and more. The sessions provide delegates with practical ideas and strategies for their ongoing work in the sector.

Delegates who attended the support worker conferences in Nowra and Ballina this year reported that the Conference provided an explanation of the forthcoming changes in their work in a way which was exciting and inspiring. Delegates also appreciated the space to share their experiences with peers.

  • "I feel more empowered to work in a person-centred way. I feel more positive about the changes taking place."
  • "Absolutely great coverage, concise, informative!"
